Doraemon Illumination in Sagamiko Resort

Doraemon Illumination in Sagamiko Resort

Watching winter illumination is one of the must do item in Japan. I went to “Sagamiko Illumillion” which was held at Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is one of the largest light festivals in Kanto Region with 6 million LED lights decorating the hill. This year, it has a special collaboration with popular anime Doraemon entitled “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Earth Symphony Illumination”, featuring the latest version of movie to be aired in March 2024.

I was first attracted by the Rainbow Lift which was a 250 meter long lift chair decorated with rainbow coloured illuminations and musical notes. After taking the Rainbow Lift uphill, I was immediately surrounded by the Symphony and all the cute characters in the movie. With all the light decorations and the sunset, it also made me feel romantic and surreal.

There were numerous photo spots and most of them were so creative and memorable to Doraemon fans. For example, the Illumination Art Wall showing all the characters in the movie, Doraemon-face hemispherical balloon, Doraemon performing with a toy orchestra in a dome, Doraemon with the Bamboo-copter flying over a bridge and river, and a giant “Anywhere-Door”. The lighting decorations were so well arranged that gave lives to the characters.

The most interactive event was in the Hall of Light and Sound, where the laser show together with the music and steam, made Doraemon and his friends performed the fantasic Symphony. Everyone was enchanted by the magical moments and stayed there watching the same show again and again.

If you are a Doraemon fan, you cannot miss the special collaboration menu from the park’s restaurant, where you can receive an original luncheon mat too.

Although the illumination is till 12 May 2024, in my point of view, it is best enjoyed during winter season especially Christmas and New Year with your loved ones in the romantic and cinematic environment.
